ICS term draws to a end this thursday. We have worked, I must say, non-stop since taking office late Feb. Couple of events to pull off. Three to be specific. But, nonetheless the planning required exhausted us out as camp ended. Small committee and fewer people to depend on didn't make things any easier. At many points, handling ICS and school along with other commitments was beyond exhausting and I often found myself asking why am I still doing this for the second year running. The thought definitely crossed my mind on many occasions. During the many transport trips to and fro from the dungeon. The many trips to Little India for sponsorship be it cash or food, cultural bazaar stalls, collection of goods, returning of goods and what not. Tolerating the shit attitude from SAM brothers. Settling treasury, missing money, 'extra' money. Emails to Ms Mellin for booking of venues or collection of any mail. Chasing of SINDA. Which we are still doing even up till now. WTH. On every one of these occasions, the thought of what made me stay on crossed my mind. When I could have easily shirked off the responsibility and concentrated on my own affairs. I found the answer during the trip we made from YIH to Science with the Picnic filled with all the items for Cultural Bazaar set up on 29th of August with us squeezed inside like little chicken. Friendship.
To my president, the ride was never easy. But, we made it through well. Definitely. We took office with the passion to achieve much more. Which wasn't that hard to achieve coz the benchmark the previous president set wasn't really that high you know. Haha. We wanted to dream bigger dreams and achieve them. In terms of, name for the society, engaging the alumni etc. Time wasn't on outside. Neither, was manpower. But, we have taken a first step with the alumni. So for that, let's give ourselves a pat on the back. For the next camp kathiroli, we would really be taking the backseat this time round. You being in publicity and me being in anything other than sponsorship. It should be a fun ride! Plus, we would have been done with school, so double the fun I say. To my successor, ms. asst. treasurer. Thank you for joining the committee. For being my right hand. Kayy just kidding. To my favourite bangla, for being physically there that fateful day to help me with putting up posters. As trivial as it sounds and as clique as it can be. Couldn't have done it without you. Soul sister, for designing posters and all the other sai kang jobs. Oh, doing up my article on indian dance. I love you. Thank you all for this journey. 43rd, my pleasure. |
