The City That Never Sleeps

No matter how quick the Twitter bug spreads, I would never hop onto the bandwagon. My dependence on the Internet has grown less these days. Also, following a couple of active people on Twitter has made me realise, I will never be able to be one of those people who like to constantly update my activities or thoughts within 140 characters or less. I find it more than puzzling why people like to be so open and public in sharing their life to their followers. I always enjoy a personal conversation rather than an online one. Nothing beats being able to react in person to your friend's happiness or sorrow and tears even.

On a different note, "Today, we celebrate National Day as one united nation. But I do not think there is much to celebrate if we are just a united nation of complainers." We will always be complaining about long queues at banks, bubble tea shops, electronic fairs, peak hour traffic, rising public transport fares, impending GST rise and what not. We silently appreciate the security, peace and harmony this country spells but we will always be complaining about trivial issues which cause abit of discomfort here and there. We fail to realise that bigger, more serious issues are well taken care of by the government. However much, PAP stifles opposition parties and taxes us for everything, we have to admit our basic necessities have really been well taken care of. So, despite me not watching the national day parade faithfully every year or not reciting the pledge or the national anthem, I will always love you Singapore. You may not be the epitome of harmony, equality and meritocracy but we enjoy national security, stability and peace. What more does a citizen need. So having stepped into Malaysia, Phuket, India, Australia, New Zealand and Turkey, Singapore you will always be home for me. I want to travel far and maybe live abroad for a couple of years if time permits. But, I can safely say I will miss home. As much as I want to retire overseas, there will be nothing like retiring in the place where you slogged and worked hard in. Happy birthday Singapore. For all that our forefathers toiled for, 45 years of independence is indeed sweet.

To fall completely in love with Madhavan, you just have to watch Dum Dum Dum, Minnale and Alaipauthey. Please ascend the climb in this order. You won't be able to help it , I promise.
