The way Dear John begins with is very powerful. I like the analogy of how John, a soldier in Army Special Forces draws a parallel with his dad's love for coins. Likens himself, a military personnel, to coins. A perfectly stamped out one.
Similarly I guess with time, we begin to actually speak and share about lesser number of things. When I was young, I thought we always had a lot to talk and that you would be there for me, helping me make decisions, weighing the options out with me, walking me down the aisle. But I believe by now you would have come to realise that we no longer share the same relationship like we used to. Sigh. Like always, many things have come by and gone in my life. This is one of those that has been substituted by friendships, money, alcohol and other kinds of love. |
