I'm in high spirits of welcoming the coming week with open arms despite the never ending work that will find a way or another to catch up on me. I've managed to do clear backlogged work over the past weekend. Feels good. Hope my spirit keeps going to finish this semester well and have a fruitful 3 months. Awaiting IA results also. Hopefully hear from them soonest.
I think, therefore I dream. And I for one, dream big. Coz I never want to settle for anything average. Economic strategies committee meeting with Tharman on Saturday afternoon was one with alot of fresh ideas, comments, thoughts being exchanged. Was glad I attended it. It felt good sitting in a seminar room of about 50 others, indians to be specific, wanting to achieve the best in whichever areas we come from. To see the Indian community as a whole improving. Few things particularly stood out to me. One was when Tharman mentioned how its very easy to identify a local from a foreigner on the street. Just observe the way his body language is as he walks. A foreigner knows his destination and takes each step ahead with gusto while a local would drag his feet and wander around settling for almost anything that comes our way. That's something I have personally observed also. Singapore is above average in alot of areas but we will slide if Singaporeans are complacent and settle for anything less than the best. The need to continually strive and achieve excellence needs to be the spirit within each one of us. I speak with alot of optimism coz I want to see myself someday soaring high. I may not be the best academically and NUS grading for one doesn't allow me to compete alongside with the top. But that isn't gonna deter me from dreaming big. Yes we are indians. Discrimination is there and I'm not gonna deny it. But how we're gonna use that to our advantage and work around the system. That is the key. Instead of lamenting people play colour, let us begin to understand that's the crux of society, social equality can never be achieved. Let us try to make the best of what we have and emerge victorious from our counterparts in other areas. We can be put down for our skin colous, but let us not be put down for our achievements, titles, dreams, aspirations we carry. Let's see beyond the clouds that hinder our vision and seek to soar high. Let's be the best in what we want to do. Cheers! |
