The City That Never Sleeps

My name is khan is a very powerful movie. About terrorism, Aspergers Syndrome, love, Muslims vs Hindus. How the simple message that not all Muslims are terrorists is very well brought across through the family of Rizwan Khan, played by SRK, as he is put through trials. Despite suffering from a high functioning autism with a brilliant brain but very little social skills, Rizwan ventures into America in the pursuit of justice for his love and their loved son. He has a very important message for the President. "My name is Khan, and I'm not a terrorist." Except for the last part of the film, which cracked many in the cinema up as the President of America (a very failure character with very little resemblance of Barack Obama) calls upon Rizwan Khan even after driving a distance from the college opening ceremony, every other part of the film was possible in a Muslim family post 9/11. A particular line in the film is really worth mentioning and something I couldn't agree more with. "The westerners had 2 distinctions to mark time: AD and BC. The third distinction is 9/11". Karan Johor really did a brilliant job in driving across a more important and pertinent message back home this time round. What is the need to discriminate racially? Fight for humanity; not to become racially or religiously segregated.

With that very powerful movie, the early hours of 13th feb was spent in NUH trying to nurse my throbbing headache. Really don't wish to recall that so let me just skip to the next part where I found myself waking up in bed at 10 feeling much better and getting ready to venture alil' bit out of this tiny dot. First time to Pulau Ubin! Mind over body really applies for me, not during the cycling part, but rather as I was able to wake up feeling much better and still want to go ahead with the group. How awesome is that though I had to sacrifice 30 bucks on transport? Cycling was definitely great even though it was on a 4 dollar rental, all terrain trained bicycle. Was really an enjoyable ride through the island with the 7 others venturing through mangrove swamps and jungle paths with the sun baking our heads. And how can I forget taking pictures with our 3.2MP camera (phone). Called it a day with dinner at California Pizza Kitchen! Good choice for dinner indeed! Was really a better day to recover from the previous night's trauma. Thank you body for cooperating with me as I was able to discover that cycling is still within my comfort zone though the hours I spend on my bike these days has paled in comparison to my secondary school days where I would spend hours riding. To many other cycling ventures!
