The demise of Mr. Santosh Menon came as a shock to me when I heard about it yesterday. Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. A very renowned mridangam player in the local arts field. I've always wanted to be able to play the mridangam someday. After trying vocal and violin for a short period of time, my interest seemed to have diverted to mridangam. And I told myself if I ever get down to enrolling myself in mridangam class (if I overcome the gender inequalities I would face) I would want to be tutored by Mr. Menon. Its just like if I were to attend flute classes it would be under Mr. Ghanavenothan. But well. Life. It's as short lived as your breath.
