The feeling of loyalty, patriotism seems to gush within me. The pride when you say I’m an Indian. The sense of belonging you feel towards a country that you can proudly and safely say is your homeland. Where all your friends, family, blood, sweat and sacrifice lie. The feeling when you sing out loud Vande Mantram. When everybody stands equal in front of the state flag. Putting aside differences in educational levels, income, status, prestige and appreciate the common melody. When you say the words with such pride, the high and mighty feel so low at the same time. When everybody sings in unison, the pride and joy that engulfs you makes you feel good. Basically about everything the country has allowed you to do, for the freedom and peace you enjoy, for the education you enjoyed once, for this very moment that binds everybody together as 1 nation. Chak de! I exclaim in such pride and love for my country, our homeland. You are nothing without a country to live, stay, grow and nurture into in the first place. Realise that. Contribute something back to the soil that gave you a chance. For without it, you’ve lost. Literally. |
