The City That Never Sleeps

People have become so hungry for love that we have begun to accept substitutes. This sentence triggers thoughts. About the people that we live around. Sometimes if we even search within we are a victim of that, part of the people that we often conveniently generalize. We feel so far, distant from actual relationships, the actual ties that bind, that we have learnt to substitute our inner feelings, be it happiness or sadness with temporary gratifications. Like owning that Daniel Yam apparel. Or having to just chill with a Starbucks drink in hand. Does this momentary spending really give one a peace of mind as well of happiness that being with loved ones and spending time, I mean quality time with them give. At least for me, I need relations around me to love and be loved. Walking around town, into exquisite boutiques and spending extravagantly doesn’t give me that kind of happiness, satisfaction. Yes once in a while indulging in retail therapy does help and lift spirits up. But remember only within your means not through debit cards that the ignorant own. I’d rather watch the sunset by the beach with a loved one sharing matters of the heart. Do things that gives me joy. Helps me rejuvenate. Also, helps me get close to nature. Discover your own sources for happiness. Do not blindly follow the culture for it may only suit the minority. Do not lose our roots and values. Be who you are. Learn yourself better as each day goes by. Feel god. The power of Him.
